About Anne Ward
California artist Anne Ward is dedicated to creating paintings that inspire rooms. She loves to make paintings that create calm, provide hope and resonate with enthusiasm. Anne always dreamed of becoming a painter and decided to pursue painting after working for a Hollywood writer/director on several films. It was while living in France that Anne discovered the thrill of painting outdoors with an easel and returned home fully devoted to the pursuit of painting. Anne is primarily self taught and has been painting and showing her work for the over 30 years. Anne is an Artist Member of the California Art Club and the Oil Painters of America. Her paintings reside in many private collections. Plein Air magazine and the periodical 101 Contemporary Painters have profiled Anne’s work. A desire to use technology in more empowered ways led her to create a free mindfulness app which has been downloaded by thousands around the world. And the the same passion has led Anne to teach people to use the iPad as a tool for drawing and sketching every day. A recent journal of her digital paintings and sketches is available on Amazon as well as a garden inspired Gratitude Journal. Her great joy is growing food and flowers in her yard where she lives and paints with her husband, writer/painter Ian Roberts.
The art critic Peter Frank once said “Anne Ward is as persuasive an artist as she is not because she reassures us about the real world, but because she reassures us about painting. The way she treats what she paints, and more importantly, how she paints in the first place aver that painting itself, in its vividness and immediacy - its ability to mediate between the seen and felt- will always have a place in our lives.”
In the words of a dear collector “you have brought such color and shade, and wellness into the home where I live”.
